Tory Ferry monthly timetable for November–December, repeated in January (shown 1 Nov 2026 – 31 Jan 2027)
Tides and weather The operator warns that Magheroarty Pier is tidal and that sailings can be rescheduled or cancelled; it also says weather can disrupt crossings. Its timetable does not include cancellations or last-minute changes: call +353 87 199 3710 or use the free Tory Ferry app on the day.
Single-day changes Tory Ferry sometimes moves an individual sailing on a given date (for example, moving a midday boat from the island two hours later). These one-off changes appear in the date checker on the operator's timetables page and in its app.

Prices from the Tory Ferry price list. The operator states that all single tickets cost half the listed price, so the figures below are the full (return) fares. Children aged 0–5 travel free. Holders of the Irish Free Travel Pass or the Northern Ireland 65+ SmartPass pay €2 on the price list and must carry the card. The list also has islander fares (adult €10, student card holder €7, child 14–18 €7). Tickets are non-refundable, but the operator will move a ticket to another date or sailing if you give the ticket details before your sailing. All fares in euros (EUR).
Tory Island, known officially by its Irish name Toraigh, lies 14.5 km off the north-west coast of County Donegal, according to the ferry company. The crossing starts at Magheroarty Pier (Machaire Uí Rabhartaigh in Irish), and Tory Ferry, run by the company Realte Na Maidne, puts the journey at roughly 45 minutes. It is a passenger-only service: there is no space for cars, so drivers leave the vehicle on the mainland side. The boat has toilets, an outdoor seating area and a heated indoor saloon.
The timetable is set month by month rather than by season. Over the winter covered here there are three return trips on weekdays and Saturdays and two on Sundays, when the first boat goes out late in the morning. Friday is the odd day out: the midday departure from the island leaves later than on the other days. The operator's timetable data lists no sailings at all on Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day and New Year's Day.
The main caveat is the pier. Tory Ferry says Magheroarty is tidal and that sailings can be rescheduled or cancelled because of it, and its FAQ adds that weather can disrupt crossings too. The published timetable leaves out cancellations and last-minute changes, so on the day it is worth checking the home page of toryferry.com, the free Tory Ferry app (which sends change notifications) or ringing +353 87 199 3710. The operator does move single sailings on particular dates, and those show up in the date checker on its timetables page.
Fares on the operator's price list are full fares, and every single ticket costs half. An adult pays €28, a student card holder €17, children aged 14–18 €15 and children aged 6–13 €10, while under-sixes travel free. The Irish Free Travel Pass and the Northern Ireland 65+ SmartPass are accepted; the list shows €2 for pass holders, who should bring the card. Bicycles cost €5 and e-bikes €10; the company accepts no responsibility for damage and asks that batteries are secured before travel. Dogs and other pets can come aboard on a leash.
Booking online is advised in June, July and August, and groups of ten or more are asked to book ahead all year. Tickets cannot be refunded, but the operator will switch a ticket to another date or sailing if you contact it before your boat.
- Be at the pier in good time; on car ferries vehicles may need to arrive earlier than foot passengers.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — Atlantic wind and swell can cancel or reschedule island sailings.
- Some island operators advise booking ahead in June, July and August, and for groups.
